LAST UPDATED: 7/28/23 – Pebble Beach Course Review
Pebble Beach is ranked as the best public golf course in America, and one of the most beautiful courses in the world. The course runs along the shore of Carmel Bay and offers scenic views of the bay on several holes.
Holes six through eight are some of the most famous and challenging holes in all of golf. The eighth hole includes a perilous shot from a 75-foot-high bluff and chasm to a postage stamp green. Pebble Beach Resort also offers additional courses (Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill, Del Monte, and Peter Hay). Pebble Beach has hosted countless tournaments and majors and will host the 2019 U.S. Open.

Our Thoughts
Pebble Beach is amazing for both the beautiful, scenic views it offers and the rich history of golf championships. There are no better, and nerve-wracking shots than hitting your tee shot on hole 18 or playing your second shot on hole 8.
The views of Monterey Bay are outstanding and the conditions (especially the greens) are impeccable. Also, while playing the course, we found ourselves reminiscing about shots that PGA players had on each hole we played.
The course is iconic and it’s easy to see why it has hosted so many events. The cost is steep, but we would recommend that people put Pebble Beach on their golf bucket list.

Signature Hole – Hole 18
At Pebble Beach, there is no official signature hole because it is so hard to choose one among so many great holes. However, it is difficult to pass on the most famous finishing hole in the world, which plays as a 543 Yard Par 5.
With the Pacific Ocean crashing into the rocks on the entire left side of this dogleg left hole, the hole is stunning (until you realize you must hit your tee shot). Few thrills are greater than launching a tee shot over the ocean towards the seemingly tight fairway.
The approach shot is protected on the right by a large tree and the left side features a bunker that stands as a buffer between the green and the ocean. Truly one of the greatest holes in the world, this hole is a thrill from start to finish.
