Today was our last full day in Sydney, and we made the most of the day despite a continuation of the rain. There was still quite a bit that we wanted to see and we weren’t going to let a little rain ruin our day. We had a free pass for the Harbour Bridge’s Pylon Lookout that we got from our bridge climb that we wanted to use, and we had a harbour cruise scheduled for the afternoon.

We started off our day by going for breakfast at Pancakes on the Rocks, which was recommended to us. If you are a fan of pancakes, then you will love this restaurant. Their specialty is pancakes and they have a wide array of delicious options to choose from.

We decided to walk to the restaurant in the rain that morning, so it was good to get out of the rain and enjoy some good food. We had the Apple Crumble and Black Forest Cherry pancakes, which were both very good. Most of their pancake options are very rich though, so you might not be a fan if you don’t enjoy food this rich.

After breakfast, our next stop was the Pylon Lookout on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was a real bummer for us that you couldn’t take pictures on the bridge climb and the pictures they took of us didn’t turn out. In that sense, the Pylon Lookout was a real blessing because it allowed us to get some great elevated shots of Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House from the bridge.

In addition to some amazing views, they also have quite a bit of information on the construction of the bridge that you can review. It was fascinating to learn more about the bridge and what went into its construction. I definitely recommend the Pylon Lookout if you are ever in Sydney.

After checking out the Pylon Lookout, we decided to walk across the bridge to the north end to see if we could check out Luna Park. Located on the site of one of the city’s old steelworks, Luna Park is a fun amusement park that sits on the shoreline of the harbour. It includes a Ferris wheel, rollercoaster, and other fun rides you can enjoy. Unfortunately, it was closed because of the rain, but we were able to get some pictures.

After exploring the north side of the bridge for a bit, we took the ferry back to the south side to have some lunch and wait for our afternoon boat ride. We ended up finding a really cool place by the harbour called Gateway Sydney, which is a collection of restaurants that you can eat at. Think food court, but much nicer. We ended up picking a place called Bread & Fill, which was quite good. The best part is, it quit raining while we were eating, which meant we would have a dry boat ride to enjoy!!

I had booked an afternoon coffee cruise with Captain Cook Cruises months ago and we were a little nervous that we would be spending all of our time inside the boat looking at a rainy harbour. However, now that the weather was cooperating we got to take in all of the beautiful views above deck. The cruise took us from the harbour all the way up to Manly Beach, so we got to take a lot of amazing photographs.

Our time in Sydney is now up. Tomorrow we will be catching an early afternoon flight to Cairns and we are both very much looking forward to the warm weather.
