If you like wildlife, especially marine wildlife, the state of California in the United States has some absolutely wonderful wildlife viewing experiences available to visitors. One of my favorite of these experiences is seeing the large Northern Elephant Seals along the coast of the state. It really is impossible to appreciate how large and powerful these seals are until you see them on a beach with your own eyes.

You could spend thousands of dollars to take a pre-arranged tour, but why spend lots of money to get pigeon-holed into a set itinerary and forced to explore on someone else’s timeline? Instead, we have put together a series of rough itineraries and planning guides that you can use to plan your own trip to explore these beautiful landscapes.
The Great Lakes region doesn’t get the notoriety for beauty that the American West or the Atlantic and Pacific coastal regions do, but there are some incredibly beautiful areas in the Great Lakes region.
A few of my absolute favorite areas in the Great Lakes region are Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls State Parks in Minnesota. Both state parks are located near the coast of Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota, and both state parks are absolutely gorgeous. Even better, they are both in very close proximity to one another, so it is very easy to see them both in one trip.
