In the first installment of my photography planning for the trip, I am going to cover our first destination, which is Sydney, Australia. I am going to outline the research I did on what the top photography locations in Sydney are, where it is best to photograph in those locations, which time of day it would be best to photograph the locations, and what type of photography equipment I will need to get my desired shots.
The Apostle Islands is one of the most beautiful places in the Midwestern United States if not all of North America. Tourists flock to the islands each year to do some kayaking, hiking and enjoy the beautiful beaches. However, each year I see tourists arrive in the Apostle Islands completely unprepared. They either don’t have the right clothing for the climate, don’t have the right gear for the activities they would like to try, or don’t have the equipment to keep them safe and comfortable while camping.
If you are into hanging out by the lake, camping out on a beautiful summer night, and doing some challenging hiking, then you will absolutely love Indiana Dunes. The park has some of the most beautiful beaches in the great lakes, which should come as no surprise as the park is known for its gigantic coastal sand dunes. These same dunes create some of the most unique and beautiful landscapes for hiking as well.
There are a lot of amazingly beautiful landscapes in the Great Lakes region of the United States, but not many are as beautiful as the Apostle Islands in Northern Wisconsin. In addition to being well known for its beautiful rock cliff coastline and amazing sea caves, the Apostle Islands are also known for being one of the best places in America to go kayaking. In fact, it is such a prolific kayaking destination that it attracts some of the best kayakers in the country, if not the world, each year.
When I first started to travel a lot, staying healthy when traveling was something that I consistently struggled with. I would work hard at home to lose a lot of weight, build up my endurance for hiking and walking while sight-seeing, and get into the habit of eating healthier. However, as soon as I started traveling I would slide back into old habits and undo all of the hard work I had put in during the months leading up to my travel.
I think Anthony Bourdain said it best when he said, “I’ve long believed that good food, good eating, is all about risk. Whether we’re talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime ‘associates,’ food, for me, has always been an adventure.” When you think about it, he’s absolutely right. If you don’t get out there and try different foods when you travel, then you are missing out on a big part of the adventure of traveling. Instead of avoiding street food, you just need to be smart about which foods you eat.
If you like to travel in groups, but dread having to keep track of who purchased what and who owes whom how much money, then you are going to absolutely love a new phone app that was recently developed. The app’s name is Splid and it is revolutionizing the way groups are tracking and splitting the costs of travel. Not only is it a brilliant idea that should help save travelers a ton of time and help avoid a lot of needless arguments about money, but the best part about the app is that it is so intuitive and easy to use.
If you love to kayak, then you are going to absolutely love following the next adventure that I am planning. There are a few places in the United States that I think are absolutely ideal for having a kayaking adventure. Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota, the Channel Islands in Southern California, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan’s Upper Penninsula are some really great spots. However, my favorite spot to kayak is undoubtedly the Apostle Islands in Northern Wisconsin.
Few places in Europe, if not the world, are as romantic as the city of Venice in Italy. World renown for its beautiful canals, breathtaking churches, and wonderful shopping and food, Venice is one of the most romanticized cities in the world. After all, it doesn’t get much more romantic than taking gondola ride down the Grand Canal as the sun sets over Venice.
With some of the most beautiful mountains and valleys in the world, Switzerland is one of the most scenic countries in all of Europe. There are many places in Switzerland that exemplify this beauty, but perhaps none does so more than the town of Lauterbrunnen in central Switzerland. In terms of scenic landscapes, it really does check all of the boxes that travelers are looking for in a beautiful mountain destination.
