It seems like every beautiful place or fun adventure I learn about makes it onto my list. This is why I love to browse travel magazines, look through travel photographs on Instagram and Pinterest, and read travel blogs.

If you are looking for some new destinations and new experiences to add to your bucket list, then you have come to the right place.  I have been compiling a list of great travel experiences to do before you die for quite some time now and I would like to share the top 50 items on that list with you.  In this installment, I am going to review experiences 41-50 on my list of the Top 50 experiences to have before you die.

If you have a travel experience on your list that didn’t make it onto my list, please let me know about it in the comments section.  Not only would I be excited to hear about it, but I am sure that other travelers reading this would appreciate hearing about it as well.

50.  Float in the Dead Sea

Top Travel Experiences - Float in Dead Sea

In addition to its historical significance, the Dead Sea, which borders Israel and the West Bank of Jordan, is one of this world’s most famous bodies of water for another reason.  The banks of the lake are over 400 meters below sea level, which makes it the lowest point on dry land in the world.

The high salt concentration in the lake has another effect that attracts visitors to its waters from around the world.  Because of this high salt concentration, swimmers can float on the waters of the Dead Sea with ease.  In addition, its black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments in resorts and beauty shops in the area.

If you are looking for one of this world’s most unique travel experiences, then they don’t get much more unique than floating in the waters of a historically significant lake to relax and rejuvenate your body.  This is why floating in the Dead Sea has a place on my list of the top travel experiences to have before you die.

49.  Walk Amongst the Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Top Travel Experiences - Cherry Blossoms Japan

If you love flowers, then you will absolutely love the next experience on my list.  Each Spring, the Cherry trees throughout Japan blossom and show their magnificent and beautiful colors.  This display, which typically starts to occur around mid-Mark, transforms the landscape into a colorful wonderland.

As Spring progresses, trees further and further North start to bloom.  For instance, the bloom starts in the Southern Japanese cities of Kochi and Fukuoka, followed by the central cities of Osaka and Nagano, and then topped off by the blossoming in the Northern cities such as Sapporo.

No matter which city you choose to visit to take in the beauty of this natural wonder, the experience is breathtaking.  That is why visiting Japan to experience the cherry blossoms in bloom is on my list of the top travel experiences to have before you die.

48.  Drive the Road to Hana in Hawaii

Top Travel Experiences - Road to Hana

Great road trips are always a great travel experience.  When you can combine a great road trip with one of the premier tropical destinations in the world, that is an extra special travel experience.  The Road to Hana might not be as well known as a road trip outside of the Hawaiian Islands, but it is a road trip that you should become familiar with if you are an avid traveler.

This legendary road trip along the Eastern coast of the island of Maui in the Hawaiian Islands offers travelers some of the most breathtaking views of the rugged and beautiful coastline of Maui.  It is a 52-mile trip, but with its numerous one-way bridges, tight turns, and breathtaking views, it can take travelers anywhere between two and four hours to complete.  If you are up for the adventure, driving the road to Hana is definitely one of the best travel experiences you can have before you die.

47.  Drive the Ring of Kerry in Ireland

Top Travel Experiences - Drive the Ring of Kerry in Ireland

Another one of this world’s most epic road trips is located on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean from North America.  Although it isn’t situated in a tropical paradise, that doesn’t mean this road trip is any less beautiful.  In fact, the Ring of Kerry in Ireland may just be one of this world’s most well-known and amazing road trips you can take.

This 111-mile route around the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry in South Western Ireland takes you through some of the most historic, and beautiful, sections of Southern Ireland.  Visitors will get to see the likes of the Gap of Dunloe, the Muckross House the Muckross Abbey, and the Torc Waterfall.  If you are interested in exploring the Ring of Kerry in your future travels, I would suggest that you start by reviewing my Ring of Kerry Visitor Guide for inspiration and to help you plan your visit.

46.  Walk the El Camino de Santiago de Compostela

Top Travel Experiences - El Camino de Santiago de Compostela

The El Camino de Santiago de Compostela may be one of this world’s last great pilgrimage walks, and for that reason, it must be included among the greatest travel experiences one can have.  This 500+ mile pilgrimage from the Saint Jean Pied de Port in France to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain is known as “the way of Saint James” and is done by over 300,000 pilgrims every year to celebrate the journey by the Saint.  Like many other travelers, this is an experience I would absolutely love to have one day.

45.  Sleep on the Water in Bora Bora

Top Travel Experiences - Bora Bora

What travel experience could possibly be better than having your own private villa located directly on top of crystal blue ocean waters?  If you said very few, you would be correct.  Of all of the places on Earth that offer quaint ocean villas, the island of Bora Bora in French Polynesia might be the best at it.

The island, which is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef, is one of the most secluded islands on Earth.  With these beautiful surroundings and all of that privacy, it is no wonder Bora Bora is consistently ranked among the most romantic destinations on Earth.  Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or just a place to unwind from the stresses of daily life, sleeping on the water in Bora Bora is a travel experience everyone should enjoy before they die.

44.  Hang Glide Over Rio de Janeiro

Top Travel Experiences - Hang Glide Rio

Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is world-renowned for its mountainous coastline and breathtaking beaches.  What people might not realize is how fun it can be to jump off those coastal mountains and sail like a bird over those breathtakingly beautiful beaches.  Rio is one of the best places in the world to go hang-gliding, which is probably why the activity is so popular amongst visitors to the city.

If you aren’t afraid of heights, you can have the adventure of a lifetime by jumping off the 510-foot high Pedra Bonita, sailing like a bird with your experienced pilot, and then safely landing on the beautiful Pepino Beach.  I don’t know about you, but having the ultimate hang-gliding adventure in one of this world’s most beautiful cities certainly ranks high on my list of experiences to have before I die.

43.  Hike the Appalachian or Pacific Crest Trails

Top Travel Experiences - Appalachian Trail

The National Park System in the United States is famous all over the world for its amazing landscapes and epic vistas.  Therefore, it should come as no surprise that some of the most amazing hiking trails in this world are located in American national parklands.  Two of the most famous, and most breathtaking, of these hikes are the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails.

At roughly 2,181 miles long, the Appalachian Trail is the longest continuously marked footpath in the entire world.  It starts in the Southern state of Georgia and meanders North up to the state of Maine.  Since it was established in 1937, roughly 12,000 people have hiked the entire length of the trail.

Not to be outdone by its sister trail, the Pacific Crest Trail in the Western United States is equally as amazing.  Spanning some 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada, the Pacific Crest Trail traverses some of the most beautiful parklands in the United States.  From the desert in Mexico to the high altitudes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this trail tests hikers with a wide variety of terrains.

Whether you are looking to just hike parts of these trails or would like to conquer an entire trail in one shot, visiting the United States to hike the Appalachian or Pacific Crest Trails is definitely an experience that you should consider having before you die.

42.  Go Skydiving in Queenstown, New Zealand

Top Travel Experiences - Skydiving in New Zealand

Queenstown isn’t known as the adventure capital of New Zealand for nothing.  In fact, it may very well be the adventure capital of the world.  If you are an adrenaline junkie, I don’t think there is a travel location on Earth that is better equipped to meet your needs than Queenstown, New Zealand.

Adventurers can find a wide variety of adventures in Queenstown, including bungy jumping, canyoneering, paragliding, zip-lining, canyon swinging, and of course skydiving.  Of all of these adventures, skydiving may be the crown jewel of the Queenstown adventures.  Diving out of a plane above one of this world’s most breathtaking landscapes is an adventure you will remember for the rest of your life.  That is why skydiving in Queenstown, New Zealand is on my list of travel experiences to have before you die.

41.  Walk on the Top of the Rainforest in Costa Rica

Top Travel Experiences - Costa Rica Rainforest

If you are interested in getting as up close and personal as you can with one of this world’s great rainforests, then the Sky Walk experience in the rainforests of Costa Rica might be the travel experience you are looking for.  The Sky Walk is a combination of nature trails and suspended bridges in the rainforests of Costa Rica that allow visitors to see the rainforest and the wildlife that inhabits it from a treetop canopy perspective.

From the canopy of the rainforest, you are in a unique position to see the Squirrel Monkeys, Spider Monkeys, and Howler Monkeys that call the trees their home.  This unique opportunity is what makes walking on top of the rainforest in Costa Rica one of the best travel experiences you can have before you die.
