As I look back on my adventures this past year, I am excited to share a collection of my top travel photos of 2024. I have been fortunate enough to visit some incredible destinations this year and I am extremely proud of the engaging photographs that I took. From the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro to the serene landscapes of the Amazon Rainforest, there was a lot of beauty for me to capture this year.

These photos are a visual diary, highlighting the remarkable sights and experiences that shaped my adventures this year. Little Stony Man

The first photo in my top travel photos of 2024 is special to me. If you follow my blog closely, you know how big of a national park enthusiast I am. I finally got a chance to visit Shenandoah National Park this past summer, and this picture from the top of Little Stony Man reminds me so much of that special trip.

Doyle River Falls

One of the things I loved the most about Shenandoah National Park was the incredible waterfall hikes. While I hiked to many beautiful falls while visiting the park, the Doyle River Falls was one of my favorites. This stunning picture of the falls is one of my top travel photos of 2024 for that reason.

The Endless Wall Trail

Another park that I was able to visit for the first time this year was the beautiful New River Gorge National Park. The park has a wealth of breathtaking viewpoints and amazing hiking trails to explore. One of my favorite hikes in the park was the Endless Walls Trail, which is why I love this photo taken from the trail so much.

The New River Bridge

One of the most popular features in New River Gorge National Park is the iconic New River Bridge. It is easy to see why the bridge is so popular when you see stunning photos like this one here. This is one of the most beautiful bridges that I have ever photographed, which is why I have included it in my top travel photos of 2024.

Babcock State Park

While visiting New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia, I had a chance to stop by the nearby Babcock State Park and see the iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill. If you love history as much as I do, you will absolutely love touring this incredible old mill. Definitely a memorable picture for me for that reason.

Christ the Redeemer

Brazil is a destination that I have wanted to visit for quite some time and this year I finally got to. Seeing the incredible Christ the Redeemer statue was a highlight of my time in beautiful Rio de Janeiro. Getting to knock another Wonder of the World off my list was huge. I absolutely love this photo of the statue with the sun backlighting it, which is why I consider this one of my top travel photos of 2024.

Beautiful Rio de Janeiro

Without a doubt, Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful cities that I have been fortunate enough to visit. There seems to be a breathtaking viewpoint around every corner of the city. One of my favorite photos of Rio is this beautiful image I took from the top of Corcovado Mountain. I think it shows just how stunning Rio really is.

Beautiful Rio Sunset

As beautiful as Rio is during the day, it is even more breathtaking at sunset. One of my favorite photos from my trip to Brazil this past year is this photo I took from Sugarloaf Mountain at sunset. The stunning coastline of Rio looks even more beautiful with a colorful sunset as a backdrop.

Speaking of Sugarloaf Mountain, I think it is really hard to appreciate how big and beautiful the mountain is until you get up close. That’s why I think this photo of the mountain is one of my top travel photos of 2024. I think this photograph does a great job of showing just how big and breathtaking the mountain really is.

Sunset Over Christ the Redeemer

Another photo that I took in Rio de Janeiro that I absolutely love is this sunset shot of Christ the Redeemer from a distance. The vibrant hues of the sky create a mesmerizing backdrop, highlighting the grandeur of this world-famous landmark. Witnessing the sun dip below the horizon while standing in the presence of such an emblematic figure was an unforgettable moment. I am glad that I have this photo to remind me of the experience.

Rio de Janeiro at Sunset

Rio de Janeiro is such a breathtaking city, especially at sunset, that I have included numerous sunset shots of the city in my top travel photos of 2024. This sunset shot in particular is a favorite of mine. The vibrant hues of orange and pink paint the sky, creating a picturesque backdrop for the iconic cityscape. If there was any doubt that Rio is a magical city, this photo should put those doubts to rest.

When it comes to my sunset photos of Rio de Janeiro, this may be my favorite. This picturesque scene captures the essence of Brazil’s natural beauty and lively atmosphere. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the silhouettes of boats created a stunning contrast against the fiery backdrop. It’s a moment that encapsulates the charm and allure of Rio, inviting you to immerse yourself in its captivating landscape.

Ipanema Beach

If there is one thing that Rio de Janeiro is known for, it’s the city’s iconic beaches. One of the most famous of the beaches in Rio is the breathtaking Ipanema Beach. The beach is renowned for its golden sands, lively atmosphere, and breathtaking views. I love this photo that I was able to take of Ipanema which shows the true beauty of this amazing beach.

Copacabana Beach Hotel View

One of my top travel photos of 2024 came from one of the least expected places. While I was in Rio de Janeiro, I stayed at a hotel on Copacabana Beach. After a long day of exploring, I sat at the rooftop pool to enjoy some sun. The view from the rooftop was incredible and I captured this beautiful photo of the pool and Copacabana Beach below.

Amazon River Dolphin

Another destination I visited this year where I was able to take many of my top travel photos of 2024 was the Brazilian Amazon city of Manaus. One of my favorite photos from my visit to the Amazon was this photo I took of a pink Amazon river dolphin. Their playful nature and the lush surroundings create a perfect backdrop for unforgettable travel memories.

Catching Piranha

Another memorable photo that I was able to capture in the Amazon this year was this photo of a piranha that we caught in the Amazon River. The vibrant colors of the fish and its sharp teeth highlight the thrill of the catch. The Amazon is such a wild and beautiful place and I think this photo does an amazing job of capturing the experience.

Beautiful Amazon Sunset

Like many tropical locations, the sunrises and sunsets in the Amazon are extraordinary. Many of my top travel photos of 2024 were taken around sunset while I was exploring the Brazilian Amazon. This beautiful photo of the sun setting over the river while we were fishing for piranha is one of my favorites.

The Mighty Arapaima

The Brazilian Amazon is known for its wildlife and one of the most unique and amazing creatures you will find there is the mighty Arapaima. When I visited, we were able to learn about these amazing fishes and have an opportunity to feed them. I was able to capture this incredible action shot of one of these powerful fish, which I consider one of my top travel photos of 2024.

Sunset on the Amazon River

This is another stunning sunset photo that I was able to capture in the Brazilian Amazon. We were out on the river one night looking for caiman and I was able to capture this beautiful photo of the colorful sky. Some of the best sunsets you will ever find come after a fresh rain has cleaned the air and this photo is no exception. It had rained that day and the result was a beautifully colored sunset.

Amazon Sunset Cruise

The last sunset photo from the Brazilian Amazon I want to share with you is another of my favorite pictures from 2024. I took this photo on our way back from a long day exploring the river. As usual, the sunset we were treated to that evening was simply beautiful and I captured this stunning shot of the gorgeous sky and the front of our boat. This photo reminds me of those amazing evenings in the Amazon.

Native Dance in the Amazon

The last photo that I want to share from my time in the Amazon is definitely one of my top travel photos of 2024. This photo was taken of a local Amazon tribe we visited one day while I was in Manaus. They treated us to a traditional dance, which was very moving. I love this photo because of the story it tells. It is a window into the lives of these extraordinary people. I feel so privileged that they opened up to share this experience with us

The Beauty of Iguazu Falls

Of all the places I visited this year, the breathtaking scenery at Iguazu Falls produced some of my most memorable photos. Located on the border of Brazil and Argentina, Iguazu is renowned for being the largest collection of waterfalls in the world. Few other places I have visited can match the raw beauty of this stunning place. As you can see in this photograph, the beauty of the falls is otherworldly.

The Devil’s Throat

I was able to take many amazing photos while visiting Iguazu Falls, but some of my best were taken while touring the Devil’s Throat area in Argentina. This amazing picture of the Devil’s Throat is undoubtedly one of my top travel photos of 2024. When looking at this photo, I am taken back to the vibrant landscapes and the mesmerizing roar of the falls.

The Immense Size of Iguazu Falls

While a majority of the waterfalls are on the Argentinian side of the border, some of the best views of the falls can be found on the Brazilian side. That is where I was able to capture this breathtaking photograph that shows the beauty and size of Iguazu. This is just one of many awe-inspiring views of the falls that you get from the Brazilian side and just one of many reasons why a trip to Iguazu Falls is an unforgettable experience.

Iguazu Toucan

Another of my top travel photos of 2024 that was taken at the beautiful Iguazu Falls is this stunning photo of a toucan. While seeing and photographing this beautiful bird was exciting, I did learn that it was looking through the nests of other birds and eating the young hatchlings in the nests. Although that dampened the experience a bit, I still love this photograph.

The Power of Iguazu Falls

This is another stunning photo of Iguazu Falls from the Brazil side. Amazingly, the walkway lets you get so close to the falls that you get drenched in mist. Getting wet is well worth it because the view from this viewpoint is incredible I love this photo because it shows these beautiful falls’ massive scale and power.

The Breathtaking Beauty of Iguazu Falls

The last photo of Iguazu Falls that I want to share with you may be my favorite photo of my top travel photos of 2024. Of all my photos of the falls, this one perfectly captures the essence of my experience at the falls. The vibrant colors and the mist rising from the falls created a magical atmosphere I will always cherish.

Traditional Argentinian Dance

I loved so much about my time in Argentina this year, and a big reason for that was the amazing people that I met along the way. One of my fondest experiences of my visit was getting to see a typical gaucho ranch and learn about the gaucho lifestyle. One of the coolest moments from the visit was getting to witness this traditional Argentinian dance. It was such a moving experience.

Gaucho Taming a Horse

Another incredible experience that I had at the Gaucho ranch in Argentina was seeing how the gauchos tamed wild horses. When the Spanish left, they left behind a lot of horses in Argentina that eventually became wild. The gauchos eventually started taming them, which involved a lot of touching and reassuring the animals. This photo of a gaucho demonstrating how they tame wild horses is one of my top travel photos of 2024.

The Famous Recoleta Cemetery

During my visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina, I had the opportunity to visit the iconic Recoleta Cemetery. This renowned cemetery was built to resemble the stunning Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. I love this photo that I took in the Recoleta because it perfectly captures how the cemetery is as haunting as it is beautiful.

Palermo Rose Garden

Another one of my favorite photographs from my time in Buenos Aires is this beautiful photo of the Palermo Rose Garden. This picturesque garden, known as “Rosedal,” is home to thousands of rose bushes, each bursting with color and fragrance, creating a sensory delight for visitors. The garden was a gold mine for producing great photos and I came away with many pictures that I will cherish, including this one.

Floralis Generica

One of the most photographed spots in Buenos Aires is the incredible Floralis Generica statue. This magnificent piece, located in the heart of Buenos Aires, is a giant flower made of stainless steel and aluminum, symbolizing the beauty of nature and the importance of environmental awareness. I am fond of this photograph because it reminds me of my time in this amazing city.

The Colorful La Boca Neighborhood

The final of my top travel photos of 2024 that were taken in Buenos Aires is this wonderful photo of the colorful La Boca neighborhood. Renowned for its artistic spirit and lively atmosphere, the streets are lined with vividly painted buildings, each telling a story of the rich cultural heritage that defines this iconic area. This spot in particular is a popular spot for photographs because of the colorful buildings. Each time I see this photo, I am transported back to my amazing time in Buenos Aires.

Beautiful Colonia del Sacramento

The final destination that I visited this year was the incredible town of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. This picturesque destination, with its cobblestone streets and charming colonial architecture, offers a unique blend of history and beauty that captivates every traveler. I was able to capture this beautiful photo of the gateway into the old town on my trip, and it turned out to be one of my favorite travel photos of 2024.

The Beauty of Uruguay

I don’t think I can overstate just how beautiful of a city Colonia del Sacramento is. As I wandered through the vibrant streets, I was drawn to the colorful buildings adorned with blooming flowers, each corner revealing a new scene worthy of capturing. I love this photograph because it perfectly encapsulates the beauty of this lovely town.

Incredible Colonial Houses

Without a doubt, this is the most popular photo spot in Colonia del Sacramento, and for good reason. This house is one of the many colonial-era houses that still stand in the city, which is why it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. I love the colors, the roof tiles, and the simplicity of this beautiful building. One of the city’s top picture spots helped me capture one of my top travel photos of 2024.

Peaceful Colonia del Sacramento

I took so many photographs in Colonia del Sacramento that I love, so it really was hard picking the top photos to use in this post. The town’s rich history is palpable in its well-preserved structures, such as the iconic lighthouse and the ancient ruins that tell stories of a bygone era. The lighthouse was especially fun to photograph and I love how this photo turned out.

The iconic lighthouse in Colonia del Sacramento serves as a navigational aid for ships and a picturesque landmark that draws visitors from around the world. The lighthouse stands proudly at the waterfront’s edge, where the Río de la Plata meets the horizon, creating a perfect backdrop for any photographer. I love this photo because it takes me back to my time in this enchanting city.

Vintage Cars in Uruguay

One of the things that Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay is renowned for is its antique cars. With its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, the city is the perfect place to photograph these unique and beautiful cars. This photo I took of a classic car on the town’s streets is undoubtedly one of my top travel photos of 2024.

Stepping Back in Time in Uruguay

This final photo of beautiful Colonia del Sacramento may be my favorite picture I took in this stunning city. It showcases the stunning colonial houses that put the city on the map and includes the gorgeous coastline in the background. This picture captures the essence of what it is like to visit this lovely town and get lost in the history and culture of Uruguay.
