How the Costs Were Calculated

The prices that I am using in this article all come from the incredible work that the Price of Travel website did in their study of which destinations in the world are cheapest for backpackers. If you would like a more extensive list of what it costs to travel to other cities, I would recommend checking out their 133 World cities ranked cheapest to most expensive: Backpacker Index for 2025. It is an amazing article. To calculate the costs for each city, they included the following daily expenses:

• A dorm bed at a good and cheap hostel
• 3 budget meals
• 2 public transportation rides
• 1 paid cultural attraction
• 3 cheap beers (as an “entertainment fund”)
