In this fourth part of my Epic National Parks Road Trips series, I am going to walk you thru a road trip itinerary that takes you thru some of America’s most stunning national parklands. The Pacific Northwest is renown for its wildness and its beauty and the national parks that are found in the Pacific Northwest of the United States are no different. They are wild and they are beautiful.
The next epic road trip in my five-part series is an amazing trip thru the American Southwest. The Southwest is one of the most unique and beautiful areas of the United States, and undoubtedly my favorite part of the country. With breathtaking canyons, beautiful forests, and stunning desert landscapes, the canyon region of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona is an absolute must-see for any outdoor enthusiast. In this epic road trip, you will get to see the best that this region of the United States has to offer.
One of the biggest joys of travel is being able to learn about other cultures. Thru our travels, we get to see how other people live, what customs they have, what foods they typically eat, where they live, and how they celebrate life. I like to say you can learn a lot about the culture of a place by walking thru its markets and by observing its festivals or celebrations. There are some great world heritage festivals around the globe and some of this world’s best festivals are huge attractions for tourists.
The Galápagos Islands is one of this world’s top tourist destinations. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people flock to this island archipelago off the coast of South America to enjoy the beautiful vistas, interact with the diverse and amazing wildlife, and to scuba dive and snorkel in one of the world’s richest marine environments. The Galápagos Islands are truly one of this world’s greatest treasures and something that everyone should see in their lifetime.
It was almost midnight when we touched down at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania, so there wasn’t much we could see out of the window of the plane. As our plane taxied up to the main airport building, the anticipation and anxiety of what this experience would be like started to build inside of me. I was visiting Africa for the first time, and I couldn’t have felt more alive.
If you are planning your first trip to Africa, I am so insanely jealous of you right now. I wish that I could go back to the stages when I was first planning my trip to Africa for the first time. There is so much mystery and wonder associated with the continent of Africa. I remember being both thrilled and terrified to be finally visiting. I fell in love with Africa almost immediately, and will always love Africa, but there is something magical about that first visit.
There you are planning your next big trip, and then all of a sudden the travel advice starts flowing in from everyone you know. We’ve all been there. Even people who haven’t traveled in decades start throwing advice your way. With so much advice and differing opinions, it is easy to get confused and start to second guess yourself. And let me tell you, I have seen some really bad advice floating around out there.

The American Southwest has some of the most beautiful landscapes in North America. From mountains, to desert, to canyons and breathtaking lakes, it really has it all. With some practice, you should be able to determine just how colorful and dramatic a sunrise or sunset will be, or won’t be, just by looking at some simple weather factors. So take good notes and be prepared to WOW your family and friends with your ability to predict sunrise and sunset awesomeness!
Although we are firm believers that the photographer makes or breaks the picture, not the gear he or she is using, the right gear can definitely help you along the way. The right gear can keep you organized, help make sure your camera is well maintained, and assist you in getting shots that wouldn’t be possible without the right equipment in certain conditions.
