When you travel, especially when you travel internationally, one of the biggest expenses that you will have to account for is your airfare. In some situations, the cost of your airfare could be over half of your total trip expenses. That is a lot of money, and it is one of the top reasons why most people aren’t able to travel as much as they would like to. It is also one of the expenses where travelers tend to overpay the most.
If you are a first-time traveler, especially if you are traveling internationally for the first time, then your head is probably spinning right now. Between all of the travel planning, questions about what to pack, the unknowns of dealing with a different culture and perhaps even a different language, and the uncertainty of what you can expect to experience when you arrive, it can be a little bit overwhelming.
Even though it has been well over a decade since I traveled internationally for the first time, I can still remember the range of emotions I went thru when I was planning and booking my first trip. The excitement, the nervousness, and the uncertainty were all palpable. Those same emotions are what got me absolutely hooked on travel.
If you browse the Internet, you will find a lot of advice out there on how to save money when traveling. For seasoned travelers, this is often referred to as “travel hacking”. It is the process of making the system work for you to save money on travel. However, the more you read, the more you will realize that a lot of the advice that is out there is geared towards people that either spend a lot of time traveling or spend a lot of their time thinking about traveling.
There really isn’t a whole lot of advice out there for how the casual or new traveler who doesn’t travel that often or spend a majority of their time thinking about travel can save money. I think this is unfortunate because one of the biggest barriers that infrequent travelers run into when they start to think about traveling more is being able to afford it.
There is some absolutely beautiful, amazing, and overall fantastic wildlife in this world that most people will never see outside of a zoo. Each wildlife destination offers its own unique sets of animals and landscapes to explore. Whether it be on the plains of Southern Africa, the mangrove swamps of India, or the jungles of South America or Southeast Asia, this world has so much wonderful wildlife and so many great places to view it. With so many wonderful options, it was really, really difficult to narrow this list down to just the Top 25 wildlife destinations in the world.

One of the biggest joys of travel is being able to learn about other cultures. Thru our travels, we get to see how other people live, what customs they have, what foods they typically eat, where they live, and how they celebrate life. I like to say you can learn a lot about the culture of a place by walking thru its markets and by observing its festivals or celebrations. There are some great world heritage festivals around the globe and some of this world’s best festivals are huge attractions for tourists.
The Galápagos Islands is one of this world’s top tourist destinations. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people flock to this island archipelago off the coast of South America to enjoy the beautiful vistas, interact with the diverse and amazing wildlife, and to scuba dive and snorkel in one of the world’s richest marine environments. The Galápagos Islands are truly one of this world’s greatest treasures and something that everyone should see in their lifetime.
It was almost midnight when we touched down at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania, so there wasn’t much we could see out of the window of the plane. As our plane taxied up to the main airport building, the anticipation and anxiety of what this experience would be like started to build inside of me. I was visiting Africa for the first time, and I couldn’t have felt more alive.
If you are planning your first trip to Africa, I am so insanely jealous of you right now. I wish that I could go back to the stages when I was first planning my trip to Africa for the first time. There is so much mystery and wonder associated with the continent of Africa. I remember being both thrilled and terrified to be finally visiting. I fell in love with Africa almost immediately, and will always love Africa, but there is something magical about that first visit.
