Today we headed Southeast of Santa Barbara, California to visit a national park that I have been wanting to visit for quite some time. Not only does Joshua Tree National Park share my name, but it is also one of the most underrated parks in the Western United States.
If you are into outdoor adventure, then the beautiful city of Zermatt in Southern Switzerland should be near the top of your destinations list. World renown for its skiing, mountaineering, and hiking trails, Zermatt is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Every year, people from around the world visit Zermatt to ski on its amazing slopes, hike on the many miles of beautiful alpine hiking trails, and to view and even climb the neighboring mountain peaks.
Zermatt is home to the Matterhorn, which may be one of this world’s most beautiful and enchanting mountains. With its jagged peak, which is often made more alluring by cloud cover, the Matterhorn looks like it could have been conjured up on a Hollywood movie set. It is only the 10th highest mountain in Switzerland, but it may be the most famous because of its sheer beauty. But as beautiful as the mountain is, it can also be deadly. Since 1865, roughly 500 people have died on the mountain. This is an average of roughly 3 or 4 people a year. So if you are going to try and climb the mountain, make sure you know what you are getting into before you set off.
Machu Picchu is both an architectural marvel and a stunning piece of artwork wrapped up into one iconic travel destination. Considered one of the new wonders of the world, Machu Picchu is one of South America’s, if not the world’s, most recognizable places. Because of its beauty, tourists flock to Machu Picchu each year to get a glimpse of it first hand and to try and capture its essence in photographs. However, capturing this beautiful place in photographs is not without its challenges.
I believe that the Banff, Alberta area is one of the single most beautiful areas in all of North America, and I am not the only one. There is so much raw beauty stuffed into this one area of the Canadian Rockies that it is almost impossible to appreciate unless you see the area yourself. From its beautiful and majestic mountains and glaciers to its pristine and crystal clear lakes, the Banff area has it all.
2017 was an incredible year of travel for us. We got to see some amazing places that we have always dreamed of seeing. We have been incredibly blessed and fortunate to have been able to travel to and see so many amazing places. For that, we are thankful.
A cute video we took in Rwanda of two juvenile Mountain Gorillas wrestling. We were trekking through Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. There are only around 7 groups of mountain gorillas left in Rwanda, so they are still extremely endangered.
