The Essential Pictured Rocks Packing Guide

The Essential Pictured Rocks Packing Guide

The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is one of the most beautiful places in the Midwestern United States if not all of North America.  Tourists flock to this stretch of the Lake Superior shoreline each year to do some kayaking, hiking and enjoy the beautiful landscapes.  However, each year I see tourists arrive at Pictured Rocks completely unprepared.  They either don’t have the right clothing for the climate, don’t have the right gear for the activities they would like to try, or don’t have the equipment to keep them safe and comfortable while camping.

The Ultimate Corona Arch Trail Hiking Guide

The Ultimate Corona Arch Trail Hiking Guide

While Arches and Canyonlands National Parks draw a majority of the tourists to the Moab, Utah area, the Corona Arch is one of the Moab regions hidden gems. Because of its proximity to the city of Moab, the Corona Arch Hike is quickly becoming one of the areas most popular hikes. It is easy to get to, fairly accessible to people without a lot of hiking experience, and the Corona Arch is every bit as big and as beautiful as the infamous Delicate Arch inside Arches National Park.

A Complete Shoshone Falls Guide: Exploring the West’s Niagara

A Complete Shoshone Falls Guide: Exploring the West’s Niagara

Known by many as the “Niagara of the West”, the breathtaking Shoshone Falls in Southern Idaho is a landmark that all travelers who visit the American Southwest should have on their itinerary.  With a drop of 212-feet (roughly 65-meters), Shoshone Falls is actually 45-feet (or roughly 14-meters) taller than the infamous Niagara Falls on the border between New York State and Canada.  In addition to the high drop, the fact that rim of Shoshone Falls stretches to roughly 1,000-feet wide makes this waterfall special.  So if you are a waterfall enthusiast, landscape photographer, or just love to see some of mother nature’s breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, the Shoshone Falls in Southern Idaho is an absolute must-see destination.

The Ultimate Mackinac Island Visitor Guide

The Ultimate Mackinac Island Visitor Guide

When it comes to travel destinations in the United States, I believe the Great Lakes region is one of the most overlooked and underrated regions of the country to travel to.  The states in-and-around the Great Lakes have a wide range of uniquely beautiful and amazing things to see and do.  One of the most well known and frequently visited of the region’s tourist attractions is undoubtedly Mackinac Island in Lake Huron.  While the island was used as a military fortification in the country’s formative years, today the island is geared more towards servicing tourists that are looking to leave their car behind and enjoy a vacation free from the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life.

Ultimate Guide to Viewing Northern Elephant Seals in California

Ultimate Guide to Viewing Northern Elephant Seals in California

If you like wildlife, especially marine wildlife, the state of California in the United States has some absolutely wonderful wildlife viewing experiences available to visitors.  One of my favorite of these experiences is seeing the large Northern Elephant Seals along the coast of the state.  It really is impossible to appreciate how large and powerful these seals are until you see them on a beach with your own eyes.

A Comprehensive Antelope Canyon Guide for Travelers Visiting Page, Arizona

A Comprehensive Antelope Canyon Guide for Travelers Visiting Page, Arizona

Twenty years ago, very few people had heard about Antelope Canyon.  Flash forward to today and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the American Southwest.  As more-and-more people post pictures of this stunningly beautiful place on social media, the popularity of Antelope Canyon continues to grow.

No other canyon I have visited, and I have visited a lot, is illuminated as beautifully by sunlight as Antelope Canyon is.  The rays of sunlight that enter the canyon make the canyon walls glow the most beautiful shades of red and orange.  It is breathtaking.
