Africa Travel Blog (9/8/22): Arriving in Kruger National Park

Today marks the first real day of our trip, and I couldn’t be more excited. We were picked up at our hotel in Johannesburg by our safari tour operator and we made the long drive from Johannesburg up to Kruger National Park. We will be doing most of our exploring within the Central Kruger area, with most of our game drives happening within the Balule Private Game Reserve and the area of Kruger National Park around Orpen-Satara-Nwandedzi. If you aren’t already, make sure you are following me on Instagram and Facebook as I will be posting a ton of video and photo highlights from our safari game drives.

Africa Travel Planning Part 2 – Putting Together an Itinerary

In the second part of my Africa travel planning guide, I am going to outline what our travel itinerary will look like for this trip and start to talk about the logistics of our travel. Instead of booking a comprehensive tour for this trip, we have decided to book most of the travel and accommodations on our own, then use smaller tours for the sights that we would like to see. This means a lot more work planning the travel for me, but it also means that we will see significant savings and have a lot more flexibility to do what we want to do on this trip. This is important because we have a lot that we would like to see and do, and only a few weeks in which to do it. In this guide, I will share my secrets for making sure that I have all of the logistics covered as well as how much we are saving by planning a majority of this trip on our own.

I plan to review with you the different options available to you when planning a trip to Africa, as well as explain why we have made the planning decisions that we have made. In part one of this series, I am going to start by explaining how I started my Africa travel planning process.
