After spending three incredible days in Rio, I boarded a late-night flight to take me deep into the Amazon Rainforest. Nestled along the banks of the mighty Rio Negro, Manaus is a striking juxtaposition of modern urbanity and ancient Amazonian wonder. If I sound excited in this article, it’s because I have been waiting to go on this incredible South American travel adventure for quite some time. Ever since I first visited South America on my trip to Peru and Ecuador back in 2018, I have been itching to get back to see this amazing continent again. Navigating the bustling streets of colonial-era cities and being immersed in the local cultures of South America will leave an indelible mark on the heart and soul.
