My trip to the Apostle Islands in Northern Wisconsin is officially underway. After a five hour drive this evening, I arrived at Lake Superior just in time to get some great sunset shots. The whole coast of the lake is absolutely beautiful, but the trick is finding a stretch of coast that lines up right with where the sun will be rising or setting.
After some exploration, I was able to find the perfect spot along the coast in Saxon Harbor Park. The coastline was rocky and there was a lot of driftwood washed up on the shore. It was the perfect spot to grab some sunset photos.
After grabbing my shots, I headed to my hotel. However, not before getting another great shot of a beautiful old barn in northern Wisconsin with the sunset. There are so many great photo spots in the area that I was a little bummed to be running out of light.
Tomorrow I am going to be waking up early to head to the sunrise spot that I highlighted in my Apostle Islands Planning article. Sunrise is just after 5am, so I am going to need to get up early. However, the highlight of tomorrow will be kayaking in the Apostle Islands. I’ll make sure to check back in later this weekend with an update on how tomorrow goes.
