In this edition of my countdown of the top United States travel destinations, I am going to conclude my countdown with items 1-10 on my list. There are some fantastic places to add to your United States travel bucket list on here, some of which are lesser-known travel treasures.
When I first started to travel a lot, staying healthy when traveling was something that I consistently struggled with. I would work hard at home to lose a lot of weight, build up my endurance for hiking and walking while sight-seeing, and get into the habit of eating healthier. However, as soon as I started traveling, I would slide back into old habits.
I think Anthony Bourdain said it best when he said, “I’ve long believed that good food, good eating, is all about risk. Whether we’re talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime ‘associates,’ food, for me, has always been an adventure.” When you think about it, he’s absolutely right.
Like all photography, and all things in life really, travel photography takes time and practice to really become good at it. Inevitably, you will run into some bumps along the road. I have met experienced photographers who have been shooting for decades who have told me that even they have to discard shots because of issues.
Chances are, we have all been in a situation while traveling where we have felt like we really weren’t as prepared as we needed to be. Whether we were dealing with something as trivial as being stuck out in the rain without an umbrella or something as serious as losing our passport. There are few things that can ruin a trip quicker than being unprepared. Trust me, I have learned this lesson repeatedly throughout my time traveling this world.
When you travel, especially when you travel internationally, one of the biggest expenses that you will have to account for is your airfare. In some situations, the cost of your airfare could be over half of your total trip expenses. That is a lot of money, and it is one of the top reasons why most people aren’t able to travel as much as they would like to. It is also one of the expenses where travelers tend to overpay the most.
If you are a first-time traveler, especially if you are traveling internationally for the first time, then your head is probably spinning right now. Between all of the travel planning, questions about what to pack, the unknowns of dealing with a different culture and perhaps even a different language, and the uncertainty of what you can expect to experience when you arrive, it can be a little bit overwhelming.
Even though it has been well over a decade since I traveled internationally for the first time, I can still remember the range of emotions I went thru when I was planning and booking my first trip. The excitement, the nervousness, and the uncertainty were all palpable. Those same emotions are what got me absolutely hooked on travel.
If you browse the Internet, you will find a lot of advice out there on how to save money when traveling. For seasoned travelers, this is often referred to as “travel hacking”. It is the process of making the system work for you to save money on travel. However, the more you read, the more you will realize that a lot of the advice that is out there is geared towards people that either spend a lot of time traveling or spend a lot of their time thinking about traveling.
Each wildlife destination offers its own unique sets of animals and landscapes to explore. Whether it be on the plains of Southern Africa, the mangrove swamps of India, or the jungles of South America or Southeast Asia, this world has so much wonderful wildlife and so many great places to view it.
