The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is one of the most famous wildlife habitats in the world. This large park in Northern Tanzania, along with its sister park (the Masai Mara) in Kenya, plays a pivotal role in the great wildebeest migration. This great migration, which also features zebra, gazelle, and other grazing animals, brings over two million grass feeders thru the parks as they follow the rains each year. It is quite an unbelievable spectacle to behold.
Nowhere else in this world can you find such an abundance of wildlife, all within a relatively small location, to view all year round. Beyond the sheer beauty of the crater itself, that is what makes the Ngorongoro Crater so special. More than anywhere else, you are almost guaranteed to see the wildlife you came to see when you visit Ngorongoro.
While Arusha National Park may not be the biggest national park in Tanzania, it does have a lot of beautiful landscapes and wonderful animals for visitors to enjoy. That, along with its very convenient location next to one of Tanzania’s largest cities, makes it a popular destination for tourists visiting Tanzania.
Lake Manyara National Park was the first park that we went on safari in during our visit to Tanzania. This 127 square mile park is about a 2-hour drive from Arusha and is home to a lot of Africa’s wildlife diversity. In this Lake Manyara safari guide, I will let you know what requirements you will need to visit Tanzania, give you some tips on how to get to the park and provide you with information on which tours, lodges, and campsites I recommend.
We reached our troop after about an hour of hiking, and our guides signaled for us to proceed slowly. It is hard to overstate the adrenaline that hits you when you step through bamboo to find yourself mere feet from these amazing creatures, knowing that if they could trample you if they wanted. The gorillas did not seem to care that we were there and allowed us to watch as they ate and played.
We all have a bucket list of things that we would like to do or see before we die. Getting around to actually doing these things or seeing these places is another matter, but we all have a list. One of the more fascinating things we learned while we were in Africa is the relationship between the cape buffalo and the ox pecker. These two animals couldn’t be more different, but yet they have a close relationship in the wild.
He did everything right. When Quinn Swales, a professional guide at Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park, led a group of tourists on a walking safari within the park, he knew exactly what he was doing. Yet, even doing everything right did not save him.
2017 was an incredible year of travel for us. We got to see some amazing places that we have always dreamed of seeing. We have been incredibly blessed and fortunate to have been able to travel to and see so many amazing places. For that, we are thankful.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite things we got to see was a black rhino chasing a number of spotted hyenas in the Ngorongoro Crater. You can see how formidable black rhinos can be, and why most other animals give them their due respect.
