Our Thoughts

Located in County Cork on the South West Coast of Ireland, Old Head Golf Course is simply a must play if you are planning a golf trip to Ireland. The stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the cliffs can be seen on all eighteen holes, and nine of the holes play along the cliff tops.

The sea breeze definitely plays a factor and it changes directions frequently.  The course will challenge even the best players, but the multiple tee options allow the course to be fun for all.

The ocean can be seen on all 18 holes of the course, and 9 of the holes play along the cliff-side.  The winds coming off the ocean make this course quite difficult, so be prepared to play a lot of bump-and-run golf.

Signature Hole – Hole 12

One of the most jaw dropping holes on the planet! This par five plays 564 yards from the back three tees.  On this hole you get a very real, and intimidating, sense of the magnitude of your surroundings as you gaze at an uphill tee shot to a fairway draped on Old Head’s cliffs with ocean crashing on either side.

The 12th hole is Old Head Golf Link’s signature hole

About Nick Hewitt

I love to travel, especially to view wildlife and play golf. I have spent the last decade traveling to some amazing places and have taken some great photos along the way. I really enjoy learning as much as I can about the places and people I see in my travels. I also enjoy observing and learning about some of the beautiful wildlife I see. I find the best stories come from the locals and I purposely seek out these folks. I look forward to future travels and will post some of the stories and photos along the way!
