Our Thoughts

Bandon Dunes is easily one of the most beautiful golf courses that we’ve ever played. Bandon Dunes is as close to a Scottish golf course as you’ll find in the United States.  With large sand dunes and the sound of ocean waves crashing, the ambiance is amazing.

The course lacks the notoriety of other ocean courses (including its sibling course Pacific Dunes).  However, if you love ocean views, and who doesn’t, then you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better bang for your buck.  The course can play difficult from the back tees especially when it’s windy but we found it enjoyable to play from the middle tees.

The course is always in great condition and the greens are well maintained. The resort has three other golf courses, as well as a par 3 course and a large putting course. We would highly recommend Bandon Dunes for those looking for a memorable golf trip

Signature Hole

Bandon Dunes Course Review
The 363 Yard Par 4 hole 16 is the most scenic hole along the coast at Bandon Dunes.

This 363 Yard Par 4 hole is the most scenic hole along the coast at Bandon Dunes. Standing on the tee on this relatively short hole, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the view of a gorge that cuts into the fairway not too far beyond the tee box, as well as the drop-off further down the hole near the driving zone.

While the drive seems very intimidating, there is a lot more room for error than meets the eye. If you clear the gorge, the approach shot into the green is more challenging. There is a drop-off behind the beautiful backdrop of the ocean. The view from the green is stunning and it’s easy to see why this is the signature hole.
