Located on the border between the United States and Canada, the breathtaking Niagara Falls is one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders. However, as beautiful as the falls are, they can be a challenge to photograph if you aren’t prepared. To capture the essence of this magnificent site, you must know the best Niagara Falls photography spots, have the right photography equipment with you, and be prepared to overcome the difficulties of photographing such a challenging landscape.
At the end of each year, I like to take a retrospective look back at my travels and the best travel photos that I took throughout the year. Not only does this allow me to reminisce about my year of travels, but it is also a great way to grow as a photographer. You learn a lot about what works and doesn’t work with your photography by going back and reviewing the photographs that you take. For instance, which lenses worked and didn’t work in certain situations, which photography techniques you deployed in certain situations that either enhanced your photographs or maybe didn’t work out the way that you expected. Even the bad photographs that you take can help you learn how to be a better photographer moving forward.
In this article I am going to give you some tips and tricks that I have picked up over the years that will help you make sure your next photography trip to a national park is a success. Some of these tips I have learned from my own experience, some I have picked up from others along the way. I have found all of these tips to be incredibly useful in my 10+ years of photographing national parks. I hope some of these tips will be helpful to you as well.
