Africa Travel Blog (9/6/22): Heading Back to Africa

The day has finally come! Today we head back to Africa! It seems like far too long since I have been able to travel internationally, and way too long since I have set foot in beautiful Africa. As I board my plane for a long flight overseas, I thought I would give you a refresher on my itinerary in case you wanted to follow along with my adventures. I am also going to let you know what you can expect from me in terms of updates as I explore some of Africa’s most beautiful landscapes and go back on safari.

Africa Travel Blog (9/8/22): Arriving in Kruger National Park

Today marks the first real day of our trip, and I couldn’t be more excited. We were picked up at our hotel in Johannesburg by our safari tour operator and we made the long drive from Johannesburg up to Kruger National Park. We will be doing most of our exploring within the Central Kruger area, with most of our game drives happening within the Balule Private Game Reserve and the area of Kruger National Park around Orpen-Satara-Nwandedzi. COVID Travel Restrictions and What Needs to Change

What sets this pandemic a part from many of the past pandemics that we have to compare it to is that the past pandemics have all dealt with strains of the flu virus, where COVID-19 is a Coronavirus. We haven’t had any Coronavirus pandemics in modern history with which to compare to this pandemic to determine how long it may last. With so much uncertainty, it would be wise to start planning how we might adapt to living and traveling during the pandemic instead of just waiting for it to end. This includes creating a unified set of COVID travel restrictions and tracking methods.

Travel Journal (7/22/21): Great Lakes Trip Review

depressing summer on the travel front. That is why it was really good to get out and do some traveling, even if it was only to some local spots in the Midwest United States. On a positive note, I was able to visit some locations that I have really wanted to visit for some time, but have been putting off because of larger travel goals. I think many of us forget how beautiful our own areas are when wanderlust gets a hold of us. In this travel journal entry, I am going to give you an overview of my Great Lakes trip and let you know what aspects of the trip I really enjoyed and which I found challenging.

Travel Journal (7/15/21): Great Lakes Road Trip

Sometimes we get so focused on the far away places that we want to travel to that we forget to slow things down and explore our own back yards. While I am very excited for my trip to Egypt, Jordan, and Israel this autumn, I decided to stay closer to home for my summer trip and explore the beautiful Great Lakes region of the United States. If you follow my blog closely, then you probably know that I have been planning this Great Lakes road trip for some time. I have done a lot of scouring of Google Earth and other maps to find as many places to explore along my route as possible. Some of the destinations on my Great Lakes road trip itinerary, like Mackinac Island, I have been to before. Others, like the enchanting Turnip Rock in Lake Huron, I have dreamed about visiting for some time.
