For many travelers, finding the perfect beach is the key to finding the perfect travel destination.  For these travelers, there is no interest in the hustle-and-bustle of sightseeing in a busy city or the sweat and breathlessness that goes with alpine hiking.  Instead, they would prefer to trade the subway pass or hiking boots for a beach towel and some sunscreen.  After all, soft sand, crystal blue waters, and lots of sunshine can really help recharge your batteries.

When I look back at it, I think 2019 was a really good year for me for both travel and travel photography.  I was extremely blessed to visit some truly breathtaking countries and capture what I think are some really quality photographs.  As has become my tradition, at the beginning of each January I like to share with you what I believe are my best photographs from the year before.  These are photographs that I am extremely proud of and very excited to share with you.  I hope they inspire you to travel as much as other photographs that I have seen have inspired me to explore.

As an avid travel photographer, I love to take photographs when I travel.  In addition to writing about travel and sharing my photographs on this blog, I really enjoy documenting my travels with my travel photographs in photo books.  For years I have used the Snapfish website to build and print my photobooks and I have been a very happy, loyal, and satisfied customer.  However, that all changed this past holiday season and the experience was so bad that I feel obligated to share it with you in hopes that it happens to none of you.

Lake Tekapo Guide for Visitors to New Zealand’s South Island

New Zealand’s South Island is full of amazing and beautiful landscapes.  With stunning mountains and crystal blue, glacially-fed lakes, there isn’t a shortage of breathtaking scenery.  While Lake Tekapo may not have the notoriety that some of the more well-known spots on the South Island have, it isn’t for a lack of beauty.  On the contrary, it happens to be one of the South Island’s most beautiful landscapes. 

As the second-largest of three parallel lakes located along the north side of the Mackenzie Basin, Lake Tekapo, as well as the small town by the same name, are enveloped by some of the prettiest snow-capped peaks in the Southern Alps.  The waters of the lake, which are fed by glaciers that originate high within the surrounding mountain peaks, is a beautiful color of blue that is a trademark of glacially-fed bodies of water.

It’s About Time – White Sands Named America’s 62nd National Park

White Sands is one of the most stunning landscapes in the United States.  Not only is it the largest collection of sand dunes in the United States, but the beautiful white, gypsum sand dunes are also some of the most unique sand dunes found anywhere in the world.  While gypsum is one of the most common minerals on the planet, because it easily dissolves in water, it is very rarely found on the surface of the ground.  These unique and amazing traits made White Sands worthy of becoming a National Monument back in 1933.
